Round Top Trail – Hot Springs County, Wyoming

About The Project

Round Top Mountain is the highest and most iconic point in the Thermopolis region.  The peak resembles a volcano and the side slope increases the higher you go.  Toward the top the side slope is over 50% or about the pitch of a double diamond ski trail.  Additionally, the soil has minimal cohesion and sluffs when saturated. TPT Trails constructed the first trail from the base to the summit of Round Top.  The project required significant rock work.  The trail required armoring of the critical edge for the entire length of the trail and the construction of numerous 3’ to 9’ high rock retaining walls.  The project also had several rock ledges that TPT needed to jackhammer, punjar or blast their way through.  The trail has quickly become one of the most popular in the region.
